A field engineer in gloves inspecting the gold stages of an open dilution refrigerator in a dim lab

Service · Texas and New Mexico

Remote triage. Annual PM. 48 hours to your door.

Independent field service for the layer around your dilution refrigerator, from engineers who have serviced superconducting systems for fifteen years.

From first call to first PM.

  1. 01Twenty-minute callYour fridge, your compressor, and how you found out the last time it warmed up.
  2. 02On-site assessmentFree. We read what your control PC sees, read the compressor directly, check the water margin and the call chain, and leave you the write-up.
  3. 03Gateway installWhere the assessment shows a gap worth closing. Half a day, read-only, with your facility manager present.
  4. 04Triage and PMWe watch, we call, we show up. One planned PM a year on everything outside the dilution unit.

What we service. And what we don't.

A vented helium-3 charge is a six-figure mistake. We stay out of the mixture and the dilution unit, and we coordinate planned warm-ups with your manufacturer so nobody's contract is put at risk.

In scope

  • Scroll and turbo pump service and rebuilds
  • Compressor adsorber swaps; full compressor swaps
  • Helium-4 charging, flex lines and hoses
  • Leak checking of the OVC, gas-handling and compressor loop
  • Chiller and cooling-water loops, flow and temperature interlocks
  • LN2 cold traps and charcoal
  • Gauges, interlocks and thermometry wiring up to the controller
  • Cooldown and warm-up supervision, remote or on site

Your manufacturer's, not ours

  • Helium-3 mixture handling, recovery or top-up
  • Dilution-unit internals: still, heat exchangers, mixing chamber
  • Pulse-tube cold-head rebuilds (manufacturer-only parts)
  • Millikelvin thermometry calibration
  • Sample-space and signal-line wiring

We will stand next to the OEM engineer, hand them the leak checker and have the compressor and pumps ready. We will not open the dilution unit.

Choose your plan.

Every plan starts with the free on-site assessment. Gateway monitoring is added where it closes a gap your software leaves open.

Remote

For labs that have the hands and need the eyes.

[PRICE] / fridge / year

  • Gateway monitoring where the assessment finds a gap
  • Remote triage within [X] hours of an alarm
  • Quarterly compressor health report

Already under a manufacturer contract?

Keep it. We cover what it doesn't.

The standard manufacturer tiers are built around an annual visit and a three-business-day response. We watch between the visits, take the 2 AM call, and are on site within 48 hours — and we leave the dilution unit and the mixture to them.

Monitoring pilot

One box per fridge. Three fridges. Ninety days.

A vendor-agnostic gateway that reads the compressor, the cooling water, the mains and your stage thermometry alongside your manufacturer's software, then calls someone until they answer. It never replaces that software and never writes to your fridge. We are installing it on the first Texas fridges now to learn, site by site, exactly what it adds — and we are not charging for monitoring until we can tell you.

01 · SourcesThe layer around the fridgeCompressor registers, chiller water, mains power, room conditions and your stage thermometry. Optional pulse-tube vibration and an LN2 trap channel.
02 · GatewayRules run on the boxReadings land in a local buffer, alarm rules evaluate on-device, and the box keeps working with the network unplugged — then catches up.
03 · PeopleA phone that ringsPush, text, voice call, next on-call, then the PI. Acknowledge, snooze, hand off. A fleet dashboard for whoever runs the building.

What the gateway reads.

Every source is polled read-only. Where your fridge controller allows only one control connection, we stay off it and read the thermometry controller instead, so your own scripts keep working.

SourceInterfaceAccess
Cryomech CPA compressors (Bluefors)Modbus TCP or RTURead-only registers. No manufacturer permission needed. Same on Gen 1 and Gen 2 fridges.
Sumitomo F-70 compressors (Oxford, Quantum Design and others)RS-232, status pins, analog return pressureRead-only. Contact closures as the fallback on older firmware.
Lake Shore 372 and 350Ethernet, multiple clients allowedRead-only. Our safe path for stage temperatures on any fridge.
Bluefors Control, Gen 1Per-minute log filesFile share or a small agent on the lab PC. Alerts built on the log stream your software already writes.
Bluefors Control Gen 2 · Oxford DECSREST / WebSocket · WAMPRead-only API key. We never take the control session your scripts depend on.
Chiller water, mains, roomOur own sensorsIndependent of everything above, so they still report when the control PC is down.

Escalation

An alert nobody saw is not an alert.

Labs lose mixture and months to a warning that sat unread overnight. The gateway escalates on a schedule you set and stops only when a person acknowledges. Rules run on the box, so they keep running when the network drops. Compressor, water and mains are read by the box, not through your control PC, so the alarm still goes out when the PC is the thing that failed.

Three ways to deploy. None of them need a port opened.

Outbound-only

The box opens an encrypted connection out to our service. No inbound ports, no VPN, no change to your firewall.

Cellular

Its own LTE backhaul, so nothing touches the campus network and there is no IT ticket to wait on.

Fully on-prem

No cloud at all. Local dashboard, alerts relayed over your own email, Slack or SMS gateway. For air-gapped and DoD-funded labs.

Read-only integrations; the device cannot command your fridge or compressor
Device baseline aligned to NISTIR 8259A
Rotating credentials and a published firmware patch policy
Local buffer survives network loss and syncs when it returns
Grafana and QCoDeS-friendly exports, so your dashboards keep working
You own the data; export it at any time

Pilot terms: free install on a Cryomech or Sumitomo compressor with a Lake Shore 372, read-only, with your facility manager in the room. You own the data. Pilot labs lock in the launch price; the target is a first-year total under $15,000 per fridge, below the no-bid line at Texas public universities and the federal micro-purchase threshold.
